Newer engines, designed to meet strict emission regulations, generate greater amounts of soot in the oil. This soot, along with other solid contaminants, fuel, and water, cannot be effectively and completely removed by full-flow filters alone. This means, without a bypass filtration system designed to remove these contaminants, the oil will get dirty much faster - accelerating engine wear and requiring it to be changed more frequently.
Benefits of a PuraDYN system...Since PuraDYN bypass filtration systems are so efficient in keeping the oil within the engine or equipment continuously clean, end users will typically receive the following benefits:
|

Contaminated oil enters through the metering jet at a slow measured flow rate.
The oil then passes through the replaceable filter element, where total base number (TBN) additives are replenished and the unbleached, CGP™ treated, long-strand cotton fibers, tightly compressed to resist channeling, remove contaminants down to less than one micron, while neutralizing acids and sulfur compounds.
The filtered oil then enters the heated evaporation chamber, where fuel and water are evaporated and immediately vented.
The clean oil is then gravity-fed back to the sump. The PuraDYN bypass oil filtration system does not affect the engine's oil flow or pressure.
It does not replace the conventional full-flow filtration system - it enhances and works in conjunction with it.
Filter elements of the PuraDYN system...
Most full flow filters filter out particles only in the 20-40 micron size, and most bypass filters in the 5-20 micron size. This level of filtration will not significantly reduce wear. In SAE paper #66081 it states, "Filtering the used oil through 5-micron filter did not significantly reduce the wear rate; however, when the used oil was filtered through a 1-micron filter, there was significant reduction." In addition, in SAE paper #710813, it was stated that "The use of good full-flow filtration, combined with by-pass lubricating oil filtration, will result in extension of engine wear up to two to three times the wear life obtainable only with full-flow filtration. Therefore, the use of by-pass oil filters results in the overall lowest cost to the engine user."
One-micron filtration is essential for extending equipment life and oil change intervals. It is a known fact that lubricating oil does not wear out and, if kept clean, will maintain its lubrication qualities intact almost indefinitely. Over the past decade the quality of filtration and oil additives has improved greatly but oil changes are still necessary because the available full flow oil filters cannot remove enough of the contaminants.
The PuraDYN, used in conjunction with the manufacturer's original equipment full flow filter, is designed to achieve this needed fine filtration. The combination of the two types of filtration gives the maximum equipment protection.
Patented Time-Release Additive Package
Specifically formulated to maintain the oil's total base number (TBN), this patented process thoroughly blends oil additives with a low molecular weight polymer. The polymer, incorporated into the filter element, simply holds the additives until they are released.
The porous polymer is designed to expand and contract as the oil's temperature rises, allowing additives to migrate to the surface where they are released into the oil.
Advanced Chemical Grafting Filtration Process
PuraDYN filter elements contain media treated with an advanced process for chemical grafting (CGP™) designed to remove solid contaminants to less than one micron by chemically attracting and bonding them to the filter media. This advanced patent-pending filtration method was developed by PuraDYN's engineers as an effective way to remove the higher volumes and smaller particles of soot being generated by newer engines. These particles are too small to be adequately removed by traditional filtration media or centrifuge devices.
PuraDYN is the only bypass system to receive California EPA Certification.
